Las Cruces police officer Rob Gutierrez, who is dressed as a city maintenance worker, radios Friday from the median of the Lohman Avenue overpass to waiting uniformed police down the road, informing them of which vehicles to pull over for violations. According to LCPD spokesman Dan Trujillo, police are operating the "spring break kickoff DWI traffic enforcement program." Grant money is being used to pay officers overtime to step up traffic enforcement, DWI saturation and party patrols, Trujillo said.
