LAS CRUCES - If you saw strange lights Tuesday night on the West Mesa, there is simple explanation: The SyFy Channel was scheduled to re-create a UFO incident as it filmed an episode of its series "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files,"

Bill McCamey, Las Cruces film liaison, said Tuesday that the shooting was to involve balloons with glow sticks attached to them.

McCamey pointed out that these productions, big and small, are good for the Las Cruces economy.

"It's a couple nights' worth of hotel (rooms)," he said.
