LAS CRUCES - A public swearing-in ceremony for the county's new head prosecutor will take place Friday.

Third Judicial District Attorney Amy Orlando was sworn in not long after midnight Jan. 1 by her predecessor, now-Gov. Susana Martinez. Orlando had previously served under Martinez as one of two chief deputy district attorneys in the district.

Friday's ceremony is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. in the county commission chambers of the Do a Ana County Government Complex, 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces.
