LAS CRUCES - A felon who allegedly punched his wife and threatened to shoot and kill her and their two small children Wednesday night in student family housing was apprehended Friday by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Raymond Tomas Clark, 26, was found at his mother's home and taken into custody shortly after 1:30 p.m. on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault on a household member, battery of a household member and negligent child abuse, according to NMSU Police Chief Jaime Chavez.

On Wednesday night, he allegedly blocked his wife from leaving their kitchen during an argument, punched her twice in the back of her head, then accidentally hit their 4-year-old daughter, who the woman was holding in her arms. Clark then allegedly threatened to go to the bedroom, get a .22 caliber rifle "and was going to kill them all," according to the police report.

Clark's bond at the Do-a Ana County Detention Center was not immediately available Friday afternoon, and it has not yet been determined if his mother will face criminal charges.
