LAS CRUCES - Thirty-three attorneys who practice locally have formed the Doña Ana County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. The purpose of the group is to improve the criminal justice system in Dona Ana County. The group aims to improve communication with other segments of the system and the public and to spotlight the importance of our constitutional protections.

"We want to add a more organized voice to the discussion of criminal justice issues in our county," President Michael Stout said. "The goal is to improve the effectiveness of our system."
