The following indictments were returned by a Do-a Ana County grand jury Jan. 20:

• Monique Aceves, 21, 825 Telshor Blvd. Apt. 26, charged with larceny (a ring, worth more than $2,500) on Oct. 28, 2010.

• Rodrigo Ibara Alfaro, 22, 1520 W. Hadley #16, Las Cruces, charged with two counts aggravated assault against a household member with a deadly weapon (a knife) and battery against a household member on Dec. 4, 2010. Alfaro is in the country illegally, having been convicted of alien inadmissibility and illegal re-entry, and is facing mandatory time as a habitual offender, according to court documents.

• Alex Calzada, 19, 5064 Jemisin, Las Cruces, charged with two counts attempted residential burglary and conspiracy on Nov. 16, 2010. A neighbor of the victim allegedly chased Calzada away from the home he was trying to burglarize twice, according to court documents.

• Ruben Vasquez Del Rio, 29, 11325 Livesay or 1927 Lincoln St., Anthony, N.M., charged with two counts criminal sexual penetration and false imprisonment on Sept. 12, 2010. Del Rio has a prior felony conviction for rape, has been arrested twice for violating immigration laws and is facing mandatory time as a habitual offender, according to court documents.

• Brittany Ellis, 24, 2908 Pearl Court, Las Cruces, charged with embezzlement (more than $500), two counts forgery and two counts conspiracy between June 23 and 26, 2010. As a K-Mart employee, Ellis allegedly allowed her

co-defendants to pass bad checks and they worked together to take a television without paying, according to court documents.

• Jesus Javier Dominguez Esparza, 28, 1500 E. Madrid Ave. Apt. G4, Las Cruces, charged with felony cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 8.

• Desiree N. Fernando, 18, 3315 S. Main St., Las Cruces, charged with criminal property damage (more than $1,000) on Nov. 12, 2010. Fernando allegedly admitted to breaking out her ex-boyfriend's car windows in anger, according to court documents.

• Francisco Camacho Flores, 40, 656 Morton Lane, Las Cruces, charged with forging a signature and forging a quit claim deed on Nov. 17, 2008.

• Jose Luis Flores, 26, 6060 Sandy Lane, Las Cruces, charged with felony cocaine possession on May 21, 2010.

• Armando Hernandez Gallegos, 31, Highway 185 MM 29, Rincon, N.M., charged with two counts cocaine trafficking on Sept. 8 and Sept. 28, 2010. Gallegos was convicted of theft from a human corpse or grave in McAllen, Texas, in 1996, according to court records.

• Dominic C. Garcia, 21, 1610 Dogwood, Las Cruces, charged with two counts cocaine trafficking on July 6 and Aug. 6, 2010.

• Miguel Garcia Guzman, 29, 2518 Primavera Drive, Las Cruces, charged with felony cocaine possession (.3 grams) on Dec. 10, 2010. Guzman also has a pending charge of aggravated drunken driving, according to court records.

• Anita Hall, 54, 9603 Butterfield Blvd., Las Cruces, charged with embezzlement (more than $2,500) between June 29 and Aug. 31, 2010. Hall allegedly admitted to taking money when she was employed as a bookkeeper for the Butterfield Park Water Company, according to court records.

• Oscar Castro Hernandez, 19, J. Paul Taylor Center, 10015 Robert Larson Blvd., Las Cruces, charged with possession of a deadly weapon (a pipe) by a prison on Dec. 8, 2010. Hernandez's criminal history includes juvenile convictions in Texas and New Mexico for kidnapping, robbery, assault with intent to commit a violent felony, conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, residential burglary, criminal property damage, concealing identity, inhaling a volatile chemical, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.

• Donnie Lewayne Hignite, 39, homeless, charged with shoplifting (more than $500) and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (a knife) on Jan. 8. He allegedly tried to steal more than $600 in merchandise from Hobby Lobby, then pulled a knife on three store employees when confronted, according to court documents. Hignite's prior convictions include theft, injuring a cohabitant, drug possession, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.

• Lisette Nicole Nabhan, 25, 7978 Nabhan, El Paso, charged with embezzlement (more than $2,500) between Aug. 10 and Dec. 12, 2010. Nabhan allegedly admitted to embezzling more than $6,200 when she was employed as an assistant manager at American Eagle Outfitters.

• Salman Orozco, 59, 3236 E. Missouri Apt. C, Las Cruces, charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor by a person in a position of authority, criminal sexual penetration of a child between 13 and 16 and two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor younger than 13 between June 1 and Dec. 31, 2008.

• Richard Glenn Schmatjen Rodriguez, 23, 2601 Claude Dove, Las Cruces, charged with forgery of a client attendance history document on Nov. 18, 2010. Rodriguez has been convicted of violating a restraining order, assaulting a household member, interference with communications, burglary and conspiracy and is facing mandatory time as a habitual offender, according to court documents.

• Kelvin Dewayne Ross, 37, 19 N. Mohawk, Hobbs, N.M., aka Dextor Bushwick, aka Bush Wig Poindexter, charged with failure to register as a sex offender on Sept. 19, 2008. Ross was convicted of two counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor in 1993, according to court documents.

• Roy Santos, 30, 1240 Poplar or 999 Telshor #1103, Las Cruces, charged with cocaine distribution on March 12, 2010.

• Bobby Joe Henry Serna, 26, 63 Kirkland Road, Silver City, or 104 Golf Course Road, Deming, charged with felony cocaine possession and driving with a suspended license on Jan. 10.

• Daniel Arellano, 28, 346 Bianes Apt. 7C, Hatch, N.M., charged with cocaine distribution on Oct. 28, 2010.

• Juliet Anita Barela, 41, 5916 S. Main St. or 128 W. Gallagher, Las Cruces, charged with three counts of forgery and conspiracy between July 1 and Nov. 1, 2010. Co-defendant Richard Merdith Tow, 38, 3434 Northridge or 4110 County Road #B10, San Miguel, N.M., charged with forgery and conspiracy on Oct. 20, 2010. Barela and Tow are alleged to have taken part in a check-washing ring.

• Cynthia Marie Barela, 31, 1921 Embassy #1 or 2620 El Camino Real Space 64, Las Cruces, charged with two counts of fraudulent use of an illegally obtained credit card (more than $500), fraudulent use of a credit card ($250 or less), 15 counts of fraud and five counts of identity theft between June 4, 2009 and Oct. 29, 2010. Barela allegedly obtained credit cards in the victim's name, forged numerous checks to pay for rent, cell phone bills and other utilities as well as cash and caused more than $10,000 in damage, according to court documents.

• Jenna Christine Chavez, 20, 1013 Tamerac, Las Cruces, charged with vehicle burglary and larceny on Sept. 3, 2010. Chavez allegedly admitted to stealing a New Mexico State University parking permit from the victim.

• Martha Serna Estrada, 37, 1159 La Fonda Apt. 3, Las Cruces, charged with felony cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia on Nov. 25. Estrada has a prior conviction for methamphetamine possession.

• Michael Serna Galvan, 37, 2300 Stern or 329 N. Miranda, Las Cruces, and Jennifer Ann Galvan, 35, 5852 Pecan Lane or 329 N. Miranda, Las Cruces both charged with four counts forgery, conspiracy, shoplifting (more than $500) and conspiracy between Nov. 22 and Dec. 19, 2010. The married couple are alleged to have forged and passed several checks from an account that did not belong to them, according to court documents. Jennifer Galvan has several prior felony convictions, including forgery and methamphetamine distribution, according to court documents.

• Demetrius James Hicks, 31, 1405 Stull Drive, Las Cruces, charged with attempted drug trafficking and conspiracy on Aug. 23, 2010. Hicks, whose prior convictions include forgery in 2005 and wrongful use of a controlled substance at Fort Belvoir, Va., in 2001, is facing mandatory time as a habitual offender.

• Maria E. Hobbs, 54, 1255 Burke Road, Las Cruces, charged with two counts forgery (more than $20,000), forgery of a will and five counts of check forgery between May 31 and Sept. 9, 2010. Hobbs allegedly forged the victim's will and seven checks totaling more than $100,000, according to court documents.

• Giovanni Melero, 33, 5248 Ralls Road, Las Cruces, charged with felony cocaine possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm (a .22 caliber handgun) on Jan. 1. Melero's prior convictions include shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal property damage and tampering with evidence, according to court records.

• Manuel O. Mendez, 31, 225 Desert Rose Court Apt. B or 1352 Kevin Drive or 2100 Isaack Lane #23, Las Cruces, charged with cocaine distribution on Sept. 22, 2010. Mendez has a prior conviction for an Arizona robbery, according to court records.

• Nevada Earl Norton, 33, 301 E. University Apt. 296, Las Cruces, charged with aggravated assault on an officer with a deadly weapon (a firearm), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (a firearm) and negligent use of a deadly weapon (intoxication) on Nov. 6, 2010. Norton allegedly assaulted a security guard and a Las Cruces police officer with a semi-automatic handgun.

• Jamie Elizabeth Padilla, 23, 1049 La Fonda Apt. 4 or 603 2nd Street, Las Cruces, charged with three counts of cocaine distribution between July 2 and 22, 2010. She has another case pending in district court for a similar drug-related offense, according to court records.

• Jose Emmanuel Palacios, 41, 1741 Calle Feliz #B or 1145 Monte Vista #9 or 1155 Montana Ave. Apt. 2, Las Cruces, charged with negligent child abuse on Oct. 7, 2010. Palacios allegedly had a .18 blood-alcohol level when crashed his bicycle, his son on board, injuring both of them. Palacios has been convicted twice for drunken driving, twice for drug possession and twice for weapons violations.

• Garett Morris Ritch, 19, 2105 S. Espina #11, Las Cruces, charged with intentional child abuse on Nov. 7, 2010. Ritch allegedly punched a girl, leaving a visible bruise, according to court documents. Ritch's criminal history includes juvenile charges for commercial burglary, larceny and criminal property damage in 2005 and charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and negligent use of a deadly weapon in 2007. He also has an outstanding warrant from Tularosa, N.M. on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Michael A. Stevens, 60, homeless, charged with embezzlement of a motor vehicle, larceny (more than $2,500) and disposing of stolen property (more than $2,500) on Oct. 4, 2010. His prior convictions include sexual assault on a child, fraud, forgery, burglary, grand larceny and failure to register as a sex offender and he has two warrants for his arrest in Texas, according to court records. In this case, he allegedly stole and sold belongings of a man who hired him to help move his things into storage, according to court documents.

• Dondavid Verrett, 21, 1804 Wyoming Apt. 73, Las Cruces, charged with aggravated battery against a household member causing great bodily harm, false imprisonment and three counts of battery against a household member on Nov. 13, 2010.
