LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County officials will decide today on the county's portion of a subsidy to pay for patient care at Las Cruces' two main hospitals.

The subsidies, matched on roughly a 3-to-1 ratio by the federal government, are aimed at paying for uncompensated patient care given at Memorial Medical Center and MountainView Regional Medical Center.

The federal funding is part of the Sole Community Provider Program, aimed at helping hospitals stay afloat in low-income areas. Accessing it requires a county match, which Doña Ana County has paid for using sales tax revenue in past years.

Dollar values proposed for this year's match were not included with an agenda for today's meeting, slated to begin at 9 a.m. at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces.

Also, the county commission will:

• Consider a revised investment policy.

• Appoint board members to the Doña Ana County Investment Advisory Committee.

• Appoint members to the Doña Ana County Internal Audit Committee.

• Hear updates about several planning processes under way, including Vision 2040, a regional land-use plan.
