LAS CRUCES - A roundtable discussion on the deeper causes of the Mexican immigration crisis will be conducted from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the library of the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2000 S. Solano Drive.

James Peckham, who has a master's degree in Mexican history, will lead a discussion that will explore the background of U.S. and Mexican policies of Vicente Fox and show how this has affected thousands of Mexicans and caused them to try to migrate to the U.S. in order to survive. Peckham comes from five generations of Protestant missionaries, has lived in many areas of Mexico, and spent a year in the Amazon Basin among the people of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.

The event is open to the public. For more information, call (575) 522-7281.
