LAS CRUCES - The average price of self-serve gasoline in New Mexico has reached $3 a gallon for the first time since October 2008.
According to the American Automobile Association, the average price of gas in the state was $3.01 on Friday, 17 cents more than a month ago, and 30 cents more than it was a year ago. Prices for other grades of fuel, mid-grade, premium and diesel have all gone up between four and eight cents since Jan. 1.
•Las Cruces' average price is $2.97 a gallon, a nickel more than a week ago, and 20 cents from a month ago.
• The lowest prices for gas on Friday, was $2.80 at Sam's Club, 2711 N. Telshor Boulevard, and $2.83 at Bradley's 1260 El Paseo Road; Sav-O-Mat, 920 El Paseo; and Murphy Express, 1290 S. Valley Drive.
• The highest gas price ever in Las Cruces was $4.01 on July 15, 2008.
