A 59-year-old Las Cruces man has been arrested for allegedly molesting two boys whose family he had befriended several years ago, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.

Salman Orozco, of the 3200 block of Missouri Avenue, is charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration of a child and two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor.

Las Cruces police detectives learned that Orozco was a friend of the boys' parents and often times took the boys, ages 13 and 10 at the time, to the movies or hiking.

Detectives allege the crimes occurred between August and December of 2008 when Orozco would invite the boys to sleep over at his residence. At the time, Orozco lived at the Alexis apartments on Foothills Road.

Orozco was arrested Tuesday morning on a Magistrate Court warrant and is being held at the Do-a Ana County Detention Center with a cash-only bond set at $75,000.
