LAS CRUCES - An animal that got into an El Paso Electric transformer was the cause of a power outage in central Las Cruces Tuesday morning.

About 2,000 customers lost power at 3:46 a.m., but most had their service back on by 7:27 a.m., said El Paso Electric spokeswoman Teresa Souza. Full service was restored at 9:33 a.m.
