LAS CRUCES - The 2011 New Mexico Chile Conference is set for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces. The event is hosted annually by New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute and is designed to deliver practical solutions for chile growers, processors and producers.

Attendees of this year's conference will hear from special guest Raoul Adamchak, from the University of California Davis, who will speak about his new book, "Organically Grown & Genetically Engineered; The Food of the Future."

The conference will also feature the latest updates on chile-related viruses, irrigation systems and mechanical options for chile harvesting and processing. Commercial booths and current NMSU research posters will be on display.

Registration includes conference activities, a welcome reception and silent auction Jan. 31, as well as lunch, coffee breaks, and a social hour and poster session following the afternoon speakers on Feb. 1.

Monday's welcome reception will run from 6-8 p.m. with food, a no-host bar and the annual silent auction. Hotel accommodations must be made separately. Special room rates for participants are available.
