Firefighters work to extinguish a fire that destroyed a vacant building in the Pioneer Mobile Home Park on El Camino Real, as neighbors watch the scene. No one was injured in the blaze.

LAS CRUCES - A fire destroyed a vacant duplex in a mobile home park just before noon Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Las Cruces firefighters were called to the Pioneer Mobile Home Park in the 2500 block of El Camino Real in northwest Las Cruces at 11:30 a.m., according to a news release.

Crews encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival. The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes, said Lt. Jason Floyd, spokesman for the Las Cruces Fire Department.

The blaze destroyed the unoccupied structure, which once served as a duplex apartment. The dollar value of the loss has not been determined.

The fire investigator declared the fire to be incendiary in nature as the vacant structure had no electricity and acts of nature were not factors in igniting the blaze, Floyd said. No signs of arson were present, however, the origin and exact cause of the fire could not be determined because of the significant structural damage.
