Las Cruces firefighters respond to a county building after it caught fire Tuesday. According to the department, hot sparks flew as two county employees were cutting metal. The 1,200-square-foot structure on the corner of East Griggs Avenue and South Willow Street became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported and firefighters from four fire engines were able to put out most of the fire within 20 minutes, according to LCFD. About $30,000 in plumbing, roofing and other supplies were destroyed, causing an estimated $84,000 in damage.
