Also at Tuesday's meeting, the council will consider selling 15 acres at the West Mesa Industrial Park to the U.S. government for $600,000. If the sale is approved, an Army Reserve training center would be built at the south end of the industrial park.
City officials and representatives of the Army Corps of Engineers office in Albuquerque have been working together to find a suitable site for the facility. The purchase price is based on an appraised value of $40,000 an acre.
No city infrastructure improvements would be required, according to city documents.
Also up for council approval Tuesday is a resolution adopting a sustainability action plan for the city. The plan defines goals and action items relate to sustainability, and will serve as a working
Some of the primary goals of the plan include: increasing energy efficiency; accelerating development of renewable energy; ensuring a sustainable water supply; reducing and recycling solid waste; and preventing air and water pollution. Development of a sustainability action plan began 13 months ago.
