LAS CRUCES -The Las Cruces Police Department has scheduled at least two sobriety checkpoints to be conducted within city limits between Friday and Feb. 26.
The checkpoints are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated. Additional enforcement activities conducted this month by LCPD may include saturation, underage and party patrols.
LCPD encourages those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to arrange ahead of time and use a designated driver - someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages.
Do÷a Ana County residents can take advantage of Project HOME (Helping Others Make it home Every time), an initiative of the local DWI Program. For a minimal fee, Project HOME offers a safe ride home to anyone who may have consumed too much alcohol. Project HOME is available Fridays, Saturdays and holidays between 5:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. For information call (575) 524-TAXI (8294).
