Bill Hill of Las Cruces and Greta look out the window of his SUV as they prepare to leave the Argus Pet Center on Friday afternoon. Hill and his wife, Sharyn, in the passenger seat, adopted Greta and Gus (not shown). The two German short-haired pointers - brother and sister - were abandoned after their owner boarded them at Argus while he went to the hospital for tests but then unexpectedly died last week. The kennel was left to find the dogs a new home or give them up to the animal shelter and possible death. After hearing of their plight, the Sun-News publicized the search for a new home. "I called my husband on Thursday when I saw the newspaper and said, 'pick me up we need to talk about a photo,'" said Sharyn. "I let him read the article, and the first thing he said was, 'Let's go look at them now!'" The last four dogs the couple owned where rescue dogs, and they even have a rescue goat named Rosie. Mike Morrison, Argus Pet Center manager, watches from the door.
