LAS CRUCES - Jill Johnson has resigned as chief deputy Do-a Ana County Treasurer. Her last day was Monday.
"After a long discussion about differing management philosophies and other important issues, Jill and I came to a mutual decision that her resignation would be in the best interests of the office," Treasurer David Gutierrez said. "I wish to emphasize my enduring thanks for her contributions during the last two years, as well as my continuing respect for her professionalism and her positive attitude. She was instrumental in our ability to implement property-tax payments by credit card, which has made the payment process more convenient for thousands of Do-a Ana County residents. I wish her only the very best as she pursues other opportunities to serve the community."
Gutierrez said he has not begun the process of finding a new chief deputy, and he will oversee the office alone until he identifies a suitable candidate.
