Sun-News report

LAS CRUCES - The City/County Metro Narcotics Agency, the Las Cruces Police Department's SWAT team and the New Mexico State Police Tactical Team executed a high-risk warrant Friday morning on a known felon who was believed to be trafficking crack cocaine.

Derrick O'Kelly, 23, of 1530 Wyoming Ave., was arrested shortly after 6 a.m. Friday. O'Kelly was charged with one count each of trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana.

Because O'Kelly is currently on probation for his involvement in a 2009 armed robbery, he was being held at the Do a Ana County Detention Center without bond.

The arrest of O'Kelly is the culmination of an intensive investigation conducted by the Las Cruces-Do a Ana County Metro Narcotics Agency.
