LAS CRUCES - A man arrested late Saturday evening after he allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend with a hunting knife is also facing charges of armed robbery, allegedly committed after the domestic violence incident.

Victor Manuel Pinedo, 24, of the 1800 block of Alameda Boulevard, was originally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a household member and battery against a household member. Police allege that Pinedo went to the residence where his ex-girlfriend was staying and held the woman against her will with a large knife to her neck.

The victim's mother was able to convince Pinedo to drop the knife. Pinedo allegedly struck the victim at least once with a closed fist and then fled the area.

On Monday, police added a charge of armed robbery. They allege that after leaving the residence, Pinedo went to the Dollar General Store at 1850 N. Valley Dr. A cashier told police that Pinedo approached her, displayed a knife and demanded cash from the register. After obtaining the cash, Pinedo left the store and went to his home, where he was eventually located by Las Cruces Police officers.

Pinedo was originally booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with cash bonds totaling $11,000. With the addition of the new charges, his bond has been increased to $19,000
