LAS CRUCES - Chile growers, processors and experts will gather here today for the 2011 New Mexico Chile Conference.

The event will feature an update from the New Mexico Chile Association, research about chile mechanization and information about chile viruses, among other topics.

The event is hosted annually by the New Mexico Chile Pepper Institute, based at New Mexico State University.

Attendees have to pay a registration fee.

The conference officially began Monday evening with a reception.
