LAS CRUCES - It's not the most hotly contested political race, but it is still vital to vote in today's Las Cruces Public Schools election.
Registered voters in Las Cruces Public Schools districts 4 and 5 are urged to get out and cast your vote in the school board election, even though both incumbents in those districts are running unopposed.
"It's still a school board election and it is important for people in districts 4 and 5 to vote," said Mike Cook, LCPS spokesman.
Voting begins at 7 a.m. today, and continues through 7 p.m., at the Do-a Ana County Clerk's office, located inside the county government building, 845 N. Motel Blvd. Because there are only two uncontested races on the ballot, state statute allows the election to be held at only one voting location.
You can visit the LCPS website at www.lcps.k12.nm.us to find maps of District 4 and District 5. On the LCPS home page, scroll down to "Around the District" and click on See District 4 map. See District 5 map.
Bonnie Votaw is running for re-election in District 4 and Connie Phillips is running for re-election in District 5. There are no other questions or bond issues to vote on in this election
Because board of education members are elected by districts, only voters in those two districts are eligible to vote in this election.
