LAS CRUCES - Donna Brazile, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee's Voting Rights Institute and former campaign manager for the Gore-Lieberman campaign in the 2000, will speak 7 p.m. Monday in the Corbett Center Ballrooms.

Her talk will cover democracy, student voice and the politics happening in universities across the nation. The event is free and open to the public.

Brazile is best known for being the first black woman to have lead a major presidential election campaign. She was named one of Washingtonian Magazine's 100 Most Powerful Women in Washington, D.C., Essence Magazine's 50 Most Powerful Women in America and received the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Award for Political Achievement.
