LAS CRUCES - University Hills Elementary School Principal Judith Foster is out of intensive care, but her husband, George Foster, remains in intensive care following a reported accident with a drunken driver this weekend.

The Fosters were apparently southbound on Stearn Drive, just north of mile marker five. State Police Officer Daniel Vaughan said it appeared the driver of the other vehicle, 30-year-old Nancy Moreno, was northbound when the head-on collision took place. Police believe Moreno had recently been in an altercation with her boyfriend, had packed up personal items into her vehicle and was leaving the home.

Moreno was arrested on drunken driven charges following the accident.

George Foster was airlifted to University Hospital in El Paso and Judith Foster was taken to MountainView Medical Center in Las Cruces.

The Fosters are recovering and grateful for the community's prayers and wishes, said Jo Galvan, communications director for the district.

"We wish them a speedy recovery," Galvan said. "Even though it was a terrible wreck, we are grateful they are still alive."
