LAS CRUCES - A New Mexico State University student has been formally charged with breaking in a fellow student's door.
William B. Elliott, of the 3300 block of Britt NE in Albuquerque, allegedly kicked in the door because the man would not let Elliott pet his dog.
Elliott, 20, was arrested after the alleged attack on Feb. 17, but was released from the Do a Ana County Detention Center on May 13 on a $10,000 secured bond, according to the jail. He was re-indicted Thursday by a Do a Ana County grand jury on charges of breaking and entering and battery.
At the time of the alleged attack, Elliott was on probation after being convicted of possession of alcohol by a minor and littering, according to court records. He was also convicted in 2009 of drunken driving in Albuquerque.
According to his indictment paperwork, Elliott sports a tattoo reading, "keep smiling."
