MESILLA - The town of Mesilla and Mesilla businesses will conduct a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and late shopping in Mesilla on Friday.

The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Friday on the Mesilla Plaza.

A new 17-foot tree has been donated by Mark Bolt and the Old Mesilla Association. Mayor Nora Barraza will turn on the tree lights. The tree will be decorated with ornaments created by students from Mesilla Elementary School.

The ceremony will also feature music by Booker T. Washington Elementary School students.

Several Mesilla merchants and restaurants will be open late, and people are encouraged to shop and dine in Mesilla during the evening.
