LAS CRUCES - Another teen burglary ring has been broken up in Las Cruces.
Four teens have been arrested and charged after a neighbor called the Las Cruces Police Department to report them allegedly prowling around a neighborhood off Paseo De OƱate.
Jesus Salas and Eric Garcia, who are both 17, and Joshua Carricato and Brandon Saiz, who are both 16, were charged with residential burglary, conspiracy and tampering with evidence, police said.
The state's Juvenile Probation Office declined to detain the teens, who were released to their families.
The teens were spotted around 2 p.m. Monday in the upscale neighborhood near the intersection of Lohman Avenue and Roadrunner Parkway, and responding officers allegedly found Salas trying to drive away, with Saiz in the passenger seat. Carricato and Garcia were detained later.
The teens are alleged to have gone from door to door, knocking to see if anyone was home, then breaking in through a rear window of at least one home, stealing a television, electronics, jewelry and other items.
Detectives have reason to believe that the four may be responsible for other home burglaries that have been committed in Las Cruces over the past two months.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and additional charges are possible.
Anyone with any additional information on the four or their connections to any other crimes is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message
The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
