EL PASO - Ten drug busts over the Thanksgiving weekend included a seizure of 16.8 pounds of cocaine and nine marijuana busts totaling almost 1,900 pounds, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The resale value of the drugs is estimated at more than $2 million.

In the largest seizure this holiday season, officers at the Bridge of the Americas cargo facility in El Paso confiscated almost 678 pounds of marijuana on Friday after a 1990 GMC tractor trailer entered the port from Mexico. Inconsistencies in the gas tank led to the discovery of 581 marijuana-filled bundles within.

In addition to the drug busts, officers at ports in west Texas and New Mexico seized prohibited apples, chicharrones and live plants, and recorded 41 immigration violations, including 11 impostors, five fugitives, and one alleged alien smuggler who was booked without bond in the El Paso County jail.
