The Creole Jazz concert will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by the film "Louis Armstrong: Satchmo" at 7 p.m. The film is a comprehensive documentary about one of the most influential jazz performers. •Mount Cristo Rey hike will be at noon Thursday at Mount Cristo Rey, Sunland Park. Meet at the large parking lot at the trailhead to Mount Cristo Rey off McNutt Road (N.M. 273). The hike is 5 miles round trip, 2 to 3 hours. Cost is $5 and $2 for children, a donation requested for the Mount Cristo Restoration Committee. Free bottled water provided for hikers. •The 13th annual Sun Bowl Fan Fiesta will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the El Paso Convention Center, with free activities and games for kids, six and younger, face painting, balloon animals, magic acts, local bands, Battle of University Bands and Cheerleaders, food and drink for purchase, and a fireworks display.

•New Year's Celebration 2011 presented by Premiere Entertainment and Ramada Palms will be held Friday at the Ramada Palms, 201 E. University Ave. Doors open at 8 p.m. The celebration will offer two separate parties under one roof. Ramada's ballroom will feature Phat Soul with reserved seating. Also, Ramada's Bar Club will provided entertainment by Dulce with special guest Sunny Padilla back from Las Vegas, with limited seating. Tickets for either location include admission to one or the other event, party favors, champagne and assorted appetizers. Tickets are limited.
