LAS CRUCES - A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of two males who allegedly used a gun to steal money and Mexican candy from a woman in the historic Mesquite Street District.
The robbers, described as young, Hispanic males with short hair, allegedly entered the home on the 200 block of north San Pedro Street before 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.
One allegedly held the home's resident at gunpoint for a short period of time before taking some cash - and a yellow box of De la Rosa peanut candy - and leaving. The woman was not injured, according to police.
The incident was the second home theft on the same stretch of road in just a month and a half. On Oct. 17, in an unrelated incident, police arrested Armando Rodriguez, 25, Alex Hernandez, 24, and Mario Hernandez, 20, after a resident of 500 N. San Pedro Street witnessed them fleeing the scene with four stolen firearms. The three, who were apprehended when they returned to the crime scene, await trial in 3rd Judicial District Court.
Anyone with any information on the identity of the males involved in Sunday's robbery is urged to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477). The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
