LAS CRUCES -- An El Paso teenager was arrested after allegedly shoplifting more than $500 worth of alcohol from an area grocery store.
Jonathan Alexis Limon, 19, of the 1500 block of Lomaland, was charged with one count of shoplifting more than $500, a felony.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, an Albertsons grocery store employee saw Limon leave the business without paying for a cart loaded with alcohol. Once outside, the store the employee confronted Limon, who reportedly took off running and jumped into a car.
The car left the parking lot and was stopped a short while later by a Las Cruces police detective.
Limon, the car's driver and another passenger were questioned. Limon was subsequently charged with shoplifting $556 worth of alcohol from the store. Limon was transported to the Do a Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
The driver and second passenger claimed to have no knowledge of Limon's intent to steal alcohol from the store and at this time, have not been charged with a crime.
