Font ResizeLAS CRUCES - New Mexico State University police will be firing blanks and BB guns as part of officer training today on the east side of campus.
Signs will be posted around the actual training sites - in and around the Educational Services Building and the Pan American Center - and police personnel will be stationed at all entrances during the exercise. Announcements via public address speakers will also be made prior to the start of the training.
Anyone who normally works in these areas will be provided an opportunity for briefing and de-briefing and may leave the area during the few minutes the "live" training will take place if they so choose. Those who would like to stay and observe from their offices may also do so.
Employees with offices in one of the buildings in use today who would like to practice emergency drills during the same time are asked to coordinate with campus police. More information is available by calling Captain Andy Bowen, (575) 646-3311 or e-mailing abowen@nmsu.edu.
