LAS CRUCES - Beginning Jan. 3, Las Cruces Municipal Court will be open to the public 45 hours a week, and will begin an evening court session for scheduled hearings.

The court will also be open during the noon hour.

New court hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. Depending on the success of scheduled evening court sessions, those could be expanded to include walk-ins.

"We know that many people have to take time away from work and other responsibilities to conduct business at the court, so we want to make it as convenient as possible," said presiding Municipal Court Judge Melissa Miller-Byrnes. "That's why we will open early, stay open during the noon hour and after five, and add an evening court session."
