LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces Kiwanis Foundation will hold its 8th Annual CanTree Drive starting 2 p.m. Dec. 9 and running through 2 p.m. Dec. 12. Donations will be accepted 24 hours a day.
The Christmas CanTree is a unique communitywide project showing loving and caring for our fellow citizens during the holiday season. Although only canned goods will be used to erect the actual CanTree, dried and packaged foods will be accepted for distribution as well. Cash donations will be accepted on-site by Kiwanis members or may be mailed to the Foundation at PO Box 6357, Las Cruces, NM 88006.
The 2010 Christmas CanTree will be erected and decorated with Christmas lights at the east end of the Walmart Supercenter at Walton & Lohman Avenues. The food collected will be donated to the Gospel Rescue Mission, Casa de Peregrinos, the El Caldito Soup Kitchen and the Character Kids organization for distribution to needy families in Dona Ana County.
The Kiwanis Foundation is a nonprofit (501C3) organization that is dedicated to serving the children of the world, one child, one community at a time.
