LAS CRUCES - Do-a Ana County is seeking applicants to serve on a Redistricting Advisory Committee that will work with a county consultant to develop redistricting proposals that will be considered by the Board of County Commissioners.

The Redistricting Advisory Committee will be comprised of two registered Democrats, two registered Republicans, and one other member. Applicants must be willing to commit to three, all-day public meetings and other meetings as needed to complete the project.

Redistricting is the process of redrawing commission boundaries after a decennial U.S. census in an effort to provide for equal commission representation.

Interested residents must deliver a letter of interest that specifies the individual's political party affiliation to Jess Williams in the Do-a Ana County Commission Liaison Office, 845 N. Motel Boulevard, Las Cruces, N.M., 88007. Letters of interest will be accepted through 5 p.m. March 7.

Williams will consult with the county's Bureau of Elections to confirm party affiliation.
