SANTA TERESA - One of six people allegedly found crossing the border near Santa Teresa was discovered to be wanted on a charge of molesting a child in Bernalillo County, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.
Agents observed fresh footprints heading north from the international border on Tuesday, and followed them for several miles until they found the individuals, who admitted to being Mexican citizens with no legal immigration documents and were arrested.
Adrian Armendariz, 36, was identified when his biographical and biometric information was entered into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, bringing up the warrant.
Armendariz, who has been previously deported from the United States, was also revealed to have an extensive criminal history including convictions for trafficking cocaine, aggravated assault of a household member and transporting and selling drugs. He was detained pending extradition to Bernalillo County.
