LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County commissioners will meet Wednesday to consider an anti-bullying measure.
The proposed resolution seeks backing for the Community Unity Coalition, a group that aims to curb bullying.
In addition, the measure names District 4 County Commissioner Scott Krahling, Democrat, as the county's representative to the coalition and encourages other local governments to OK the same resolution.
In October 2010, the commission took a formal stance against bullying, that especially targeted the gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual community.
Also Wednesday, the commission will consider approving a $1.28 million loan from the state water trust board, along with a county match for the funding, for an arsenic treatment facility in the Santa Teresa area.
Other possible action includes:
•Adopting a Doña Ana County/City of Las Cruces All-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan, to guide response in natural and man-caused disasters.
•Accepting a $1.23 million grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the sheriff's department, money that would pay for security efforts along the border through July 31, 2013.
