LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces police captured and charged five teenagers who allegedly burglarized a home Tuesday in the High Range neighborhood.

Marlon Loya, Diego Ramirez, Steven Arechiga and Alex Nielson, all 16, and Kenneth Arvizu, 15, were each charged with residential burglary, conspiracy to commit residential burglary, possession of stolen property, criminal damage to property and larceny, according to authorities.

The juvenile probation office did not authorize detention, so all five teens were cited and released to their parents or legal guardians.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, an alert neighbor reported seeing the teens taking items from a home in the 2200 block of Cimarron Drive, police said. The neighbor called 911, and a responding officer arrived in time to apprehend one of the teens near the home. The other four juveniles allegedly attempted to flee but were caught by LCPD officers who were responding to the scene.

Detectives learned that the teens left school and were on their way to the mall when they walked past the home and noticed a bicycle just outside the front door. One of the teens knocked on the front door of the residence. When there was no answer, the juveniles reportedly broke into the home and stole several electronic gaming consoles. They also took two bicycles, a motorcycle and several cans of beer from the residence.
